S. D. Unwin hails originally from Manchester in the United Kingdom and now lives in the U.S. Pacific Northwest. He began as a theoretical physicist doing fundamental research into quantum theories of gravity. His first book was a light-hearted look at the uses of probability theory titled The Probability of God. It received international acclaim, being translated into several languages. He now writes science fiction, his time travel trilogy, One Second Per Second, having achieved best-seller status on Amazon.
